STAGE II of Intrapreneurship.

STAGE II of Intrapreneurship. Today my initial idea and now company startup project has moved to a project stage, meaning it will get funded and will potentially start to move from research stage to planning to execution.

My collegue and I have been seeling our idea across top management for a while now, but the real push was gained after the CEO saw the potential.  What are the results? Well, now the project has gained grand scale.  My collegue and I have been included in the guide team. Which is a win, and wheels are turning. Potential losses though have to do with loss of responsibility, loss of brand name and time. It will take potentially a lot longer to launch the initiative and I wasn’t made the project manager. Honestly, I’m not sure if I wanted to be the manager, however executive team talked widely about having an E (entrepreneurship) type character to be the PM, (which is me) so I guess I’m bummed I wasn’t offered a spot to compete.  Also the project has lost its original name, as well as the idea itself has changed a lot, from an eagle it became a whale.  It almost reminds me of being a venture backed startup founder with no real shares in the business-as an analogy I guess.

I’m grateful to stay as a Driver on a team and making sure the vision is being executed as well as being an implementer.  Now I’m also convinced more than ever that intrapreneurship is more about Leading Change and getting everyone on board than anything else. In any case, we have a top level buy-in, and now it is becoming a company idea.  So it is working.  With trials, wins and losses it is moving forward which is great.
